Conversations
Every description, summary, and question is a conversation, and this row lists the ones still stored, newest first. Each is named by what it started from — a photo or a voice message — with its date and the first answer.
Why it is a screen and not a dialog
An answer used to appear in a dialog and disappear with it. On this screen the answers and your questions are messages in one list, oldest first, each its own stop, with the question field always in the same place at the bottom — the shape a chat already has.
Above the messages sits what the conversation is about: a photo as a thumbnail that opens full screen, a voice message as a row you can play. Reopened days later, that is what tells you which conversation you are in.
What you can do
- Ask a follow-up. Type in the field at the bottom. The whole thread is sent each time, so a question can build on the answer before it. Answers are kept short, because each one costs a request.
- Copy. Activating any message offers Copy and Copy all. A long press copies outright. The text itself is the reading target, so you can also walk it by word or character and select part of it.
- Try again. A failed answer keeps the request that produced it, and Try again is the first item in that message's options. It is behind the menu rather than on the tap, because a retry costs another request.
- Delete. The action bar has a delete item; it is not hidden behind a menu, because getting rid of a transcript should be one control.
Things worth knowing
- A question outlives the screen. Leaving is not cancelling: the answer is stored and shown when you come back. A conversation still waiting shows Thinking…, and the field stays disabled until the answer lands.
- An arriving answer buzzes, as well as being announced, so you do not have to hold the phone to your ear waiting.
- Conversations are kept for a week, then removed. They hold other people's words, and this is a convenience rather than an archive.
- Asking about the same photo or voice message again reopens the same conversation while it is still stored, instead of paying for the same answer twice.
- The quick on-device labels are not sent back to the model. They are the phone's own guess, shown as "Detected: …", and feeding them back as the model's own words would have it correcting itself.
