Assistant

blindGram Assistant is a separate, optional app. It reads text inside images, describes photos, turns voice messages into text, and — with an AI service of your own — writes summaries and answers questions about a message.

One install serves both blindGram and blindGram Plus. It is the first row of blindGram Area, and it only appears while Enable blindGram accessibility enhancements is on.

Installing

Not installed, the screen has one row: Install blindGram Assistant. Choosing it downloads the app and opens the Android installer, which asks you to confirm and offers the unknown-sources setting if it is still off.

The download resumes. A dropped connection, a closed app, or a trip out to the installer and back continues from where it stopped; a file already downloaded and verified installs with no transfer at all.

Once it is installed

The screen becomes four rows, in this order:

• Image — recognition languages for reading text in pictures.
• Voice — speech models for turning voice messages into text.
• AI — one AI service, the features that use it, and your saved conversations.
• The management row at the end — the installed version, Check for updates, and Uninstall in red.

Where the features are used

Every Assistant feature is reachable from four places:

• the message menu, on the message itself;
• a selected message, under blindGram Assistant;
• More options in the photo viewer;
• the Assistant button while choosing an image to send.

Good to know

• Everything except the AI features works offline, with no account and no Telegram Premium.
• No recognition language and no speech model ships inside the app. Each is downloaded when you ask for it, so the install stays small.
• The Assistant needs no storage permission: images and audio are handed to it directly by blindGram.
• Every download shows a progress bar and speaks the percentage in steps of ten.
