General

App-wide accessibility, display, privacy, and system settings. Five sections, in the order they appear on the screen.

Accessibility

  • Enable blindGram accessibility enhancements — the master switch. Off, the app behaves like ordinary Telegram and nearly every other setting in the area stops applying. On by default.
  • Improve text field accessibility — makes text fields report themselves more completely to the screen reader.
  • Announce the number of selected items — when you select messages, the new count is spoken as it changes.
  • Announce when someone joins a voice or video chat — a spoken notice when a participant joins.
  • Vibrate when a switch is turned on or off — a short buzz confirms a checkbox or switch changed, so you do not have to re-read the row.
  • Force Change Language — applies the chosen app language in places Telegram would otherwise keep the system language.

Display and content

  • Hide chat and message visuals — fast render mode. Message and chat rows collapse to a small stub and are not drawn. Nothing spoken is lost, and moving through a long chat becomes noticeably faster.
  • Hide and stop animated emoji — stops animated emoji from being drawn and animated, which saves battery and further speeds up long chats.
  • Announce exact member and view counts — reads the exact number instead of Telegram's rounded form.
  • Use the Shamsi (Jalali) calendar — dates are spoken and written in the Jalali calendar.
  • Hide the gift button — removes the Gift button from the profile actions, the message box in a private chat, and a channel's bottom buttons. A chat already open keeps its buttons until you open it again.
  • Hide the search button in channels — removes the search button from the bar beside Join and Mute in channels. Search stays in the header.

Emoji

  • Emoji Language — the language emoji names are spoken in. Twelve languages ship with the app; the list shows each one in your app language with its own name beneath. Changing it reloads the dictionary immediately.
  • Speak emoji names in messages — turns emoji in messages and in the chat list into spoken names. On by default; with it off, a message that is only emoji reads as nothing.
  • Do not speak emoji names in pickers — the kill switch for the other places emoji names are spoken, such as the reaction picker and sticker rows.

Privacy

  • Stay offline with Ghost mode — stops read receipts, typing and recording indicators, story views, and online presence from being sent. Messages and stories still count as read for you on this phone. Off by default.
  • Block links opened from other apps — a Telegram link sent from another app does not open until you confirm it.
  • Also block links opened inside blindGram — extends the same confirmation to links inside messages.

Advanced

  • Hide proxy sponsor channel — removes Telegram's sponsored proxy chat from the chat list.
  • Disable ads — stops sponsored messages in channels and bots, sponsored search results, and sponsored video overlays from being requested at all.
  • Use the alternative server address — switches the license and update service to its mirror. Useful when the main address is unreachable. Changing it re-checks your license straight away.
