Chats
The chat list, folders, and what happens when a chat opens. Three sections.
Folders
- Show chat folders as tabs — on, folders are the usual strip of tabs. Off, the strip is replaced by one button that opens the folder list as a dialog, which is far quicker to reach with a screen reader. Changing this rebuilds the screen.
- Return to the default folder — opening the app goes back to the folder you were last in rather than to All Chats.
- Show tabs in share instead of categories — in the share sheet, offer your own folders instead of the built-in categories (unread, groups, channels, bots).
- Always show select category — keeps the category button visible even while tabs are on.
- Create Default Folders — creates a starting set of folders for you.
Chat list
- Always show search button in chat list — keeps search as a button in the header instead of turning into an input field as you scroll.
- Show the account switch button — adds a control for moving between your accounts.
- Hide stories — removes the stories row above the chat list and the button that posts one. Everything they did moves into a Stories entry in More options: post a story, then the people with unread stories, then a Seen group.
- Read the whole last message in the chat list — the chat row reads the full last message rather than a short preview.
- Ordering Chats information — the reorder screen for what a chat row says and in what order. Up and Down buttons on each row; dragging is not needed.
Opening a chat
- Open chats in preview mode — chats open in preview, which keeps the header and controls in one predictable place.
- Open channels normally, not in preview — an exception to the row above, for channels.
- Show search button in chat header — puts search in the chat header where it can be reached directly.
- Ask which kind of call — the call button in a chat header asks Call or Video call instead of dialling straight away. It only appears when the other person can take a video call.
- Pull up to go to the next unread channel — at the end of a channel, keep pulling to move to the next channel with unread posts.
