Backup and Updates

Backup

Writes every setting in this area — switches, orders, languages, and speeds — into one `.blindGramSetting` file. You are asked where it goes: the public Documents/blindGram folder, or a place you pick with the Android file picker.

The public folder matters: Android deletes an app's private folders when the app is uninstalled, and this one it does not. A backup taken there survives uninstalling and reinstalling blindGram.

Restore

Looks for backups it can find, newest first, and lists them with their date and time so you can pick one without browsing. If nothing is found, the Android file picker opens straight away; you can also choose it yourself from the list to open a file from anywhere, including a cloud drive.

Restoring replaces the current settings with the ones in the file.

Check for updates

blindGram is not on Google Play, so updates come from here. The row checks the release server for a newer blindGram, and for a newer blindGram Assistant when the Assistant is installed, and lists what it found; choosing an available one downloads it and opens the Android installer.

The download resumes. If the connection drops, the app is closed, or you leave for the installer and come back, it continues from where it stopped rather than starting the download again.
